Progress at last!

Went climbing and bouldering this evening with Peter. I really wasn’t looking forward to it much. My plane was late due to bad weather, and it had been a long day after a short night.

Anyway – I sent all the green routes but one, and almost ticked a blue one. Hope they don’t take any of the routes down till I tick all the green and at least one blue route.

Leading the big wall also went quite well, with no ‘takes’ for rest.

Twice as nice with Ice

Rjukan was brilliant. The Ice was pretty thick on several lines, and the weather wasn’t bad at all. -8 C most of the day, and light snow.

Leading up Bullen (WI3) was quite sufficient to get my pulse rate up on the first trip Ice Climbing this year. There was a couple of holes in the ice 2/3 of the way up wich offered a few fun mixed moves on an overhang.

Not

Arriving at the gym this evening the place was jam packed. I have never seen so many people on one climbing wall at the same time. The bouldering was even worse. I han’t been there on a tuesday before…

Note to self: do not go to Klatreverket on tuesdays.

Felt cramped, and weak – maybe something I ate, so ended it early, wich is OK since I’m off to Rjukan Ice Climbing with Glenn tomorrow. Seven o’clock sharp.

Running

I try to run for 30-40 minutes at least three times a week. It’s good general conditioning. It also means that I pretty much can eat what i want :-)

I ran for the first time after getting better on sunday – pretty tiring, so I stopped after 25 minutes. Went runing again yesterday. This time everything felt easyer, so I kept it going for 30 minutes (the gym closed).

I’ll be climbing this evening with Peter at Klatreverket. I’m looking forward to trying the same routes as saturday, but also som new ones.

Rock bottom

Climbing this afternoon. It was brilliant to be up and out, but also slightly dissapointing. I didn’t even manage to onsight a 6a.

I did, however, send a boulder problem I couldn’t two weeks ago. Very easily.

The session today has given valuable input to goal setting for this winter:

  • Regain my onsight level of 6a+, possibly advance it
  • Although I am starting off 4 weeks into a cycle, I still need a lot of endurance training
  • Mental training must include fall training, technique training must focus on over gripping and footwork!
